Who We Are

Youth Confidence Movement is an innovative program and mentorship company coming to the Halifax, Nova Scotia area with the goal of creating a more confident next generation through mentorship, hands-on experience and learning, peer guidance, positive technology use, self accountability and discipline, and much more!

Founded by Nick Gentleman, a rising figure in both the global business and athletic communities who has built a multi-national athlete management firm and is training for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics, was once a young person struggling to find confidence in himself. Nick found through positive phone and technology use, building a network of connections, losing the fear of failure, hands-on experience, and refusing to quit on what seemed like an unattainable goal, Nick has become the confident entrepreneur and athlete that many know today.

Nick has a passion for supporting the next generation, and looks to inspire and support others looking to reach their fullest potential through his newest venture, Youth Confidence Movement

YCM’s eight week program features eight in-person sessions on Tuesday evenings held at King’s College, and eight online sessions on Friday evenings. In-person sessions are designed to focus on a specific topic, such as losing the fear of failure, and how that topic benefits confidence, positive and productive use of our time, and how to utilize said topic in our every day lives. the in-person sessions are designed to be as interactive as possible while still covering the core point of the topic. Participants will contribute to guided discussions, leading to further thought and curiosity around how they can apply the topic into their lives outside of the program. At the end of each in-person session, participants are asked to complete a weekly “job” that involves working to apply the weekly topic in their daily lives to start making these weekly topics an aspect of their daily lives, leading to a gradual increase in confidence. In-person sessions will also feature the vast majority of our guest speakers!

The weekly online sessions will focus mainly around how each participant applied what was discussed and worked on in the in-person sessions, into practice over the past few days since we met. We will discuss how each student did while performing their “job”, and how they felt it impacted their daily lives. Each participant is encouraged to, and will be provided the opportunity to speak during both our in person, and online sessions.

While participants will only meet with Nick and their peers twice a week, they are entitled to unlimited meetings with Nick outside of program sessions to further discuss the weekly topic, or anything else they want to discuss. However, it is up to the participant to reach out and schedule these meetings - not on the participants parents/guardians.

YCM does not feature any grading system. Rather, families can request reports on their participants progress and involvement in the program. However, it is strongly encouraged that participants reach out directly to Nick, instead of having their families do so. Becoming comfortable communicating with an authority figure is great for building confidence in their communication skills, learning how to build connections, and building independence!

If you are on the fence about enrolling your teen in the eight-week program, consider this. Nothing changes, if nothing changes. If your teen is struggling with their confidence, or in school, to make friends, identifying what they want to do with their lives, or experiencing any sort of struggle, than having them join a supportive community, led by experienced mentors and speakers, will only benefit them in the short and long-term, and create lasting friendships and connections for life!
